Mind Australia and Mallee Family Care have been chosen to develop urgently needed support services for the families and carers of people experiencing mental health and wellbeing challenges in the Loddon Mallee region.
Mind will develop and deliver the Loddon Mallee Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect in partnership with Mallee Family Care. The new support service will support family members and carers of people with mental ill-health or alcohol and other drug addiction.
The Loddon Mallee Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect is one of eight funded by the Victorian Government and recommended by the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
The Loddon Mallee Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect will provide peer support, social connection, education, therapeutic respite, practical support, care, advice and system navigation for primary carers in northern Victoria.
The service will support families and carers living in the Buloke, Campaspe, Central Goldfields, Gannawarra, Greater Bendigo, Loddon, Macedon Ranges, Mildura, Mount Alexander and Swan Hill local government areas.
Primary carers will not need a referral to access support from the centre, which will provide short, medium and long-term assistance for family members and carers.
Mind and Mallee Family Care are committed to creating an evidence based service guided by the knowledge and experience of people with lived experience of being a family member or carer.
