Mind Australia has an exciting opportunity for an intern to get on the job training at Haven Pakenham while they complete their Certificate IV or Diploma of Mental Health.
The six-month full-time placement will give the intern first-hand experience supporting residents at Haven Pakenham with daily tasks and to achieve their long-term goals.
Haven residences are high-quality housing for people with significant mental health and wellbeing concerns to live independently while receiving support from qualified mental health workers who help them to achieve their unique NDIS Plan goals. The Earn and Learn Internship program is part of the Victorian Government’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Workforce Strategy 2021-24. It aims to build a diverse, robust community mental health and wellbeing workforce by providing Certificate IV in Mental Health and Diploma of Mental Health students with on the job training and learning, streamline a transition into the workforce and create future employment opportunities.
Tertiary qualifications are not required but evidence of enrolment and commitment to completing the Certificate IV in Mental Health or Diploma of Mental Health is required.
Some experience in working with people with mental health and alcohol and other drug issues, complex needs and with their families and carers is desirable.
Also desirable is an ability to provide information and mentoring to build capacity, establish social relationships, create community networks and access to relevant services, and an understanding of facilitating group activities.
