Mind Australia is hosting an online event discussing what we have learnt from championing lived experience at the heart of everything we do.

The webinar Reimagining culture, leadership and workforce through lived experience will be held on Tuesday 11 July at 11 am (AEST) via Zoom – click here to register

The discussion is an opportunity to hear from lived experience leaders about the implementation of Mind’s Lived Experience Strategy, and explore some of the challenges we have faced along the way.

The free online event will feature representatives from Mind including CEO Gill Callister, Lived Experience Executive Advisor Dr Louise Byrne, Senior Manager Inclusion and Participation Katie Larsen, and General Manager – South Australia Brett Williams.

Katie Larsen said implementing the strategy - launched in December 2021 – had been a powerful journey for the organisation.

“Delivering on our Lived Experience Strategy has been a deep learning experience for all of us. As an organisation we’ve had to make ourselves vulnerable, but that’s where meaningful change can occur – when we are pushed out of our comfort zones and familiar ways of ‘doing’,” Katie said.

The panel will also discuss:

  • how lived experience-led evidence is reshaping our approach to lived experience workforce and leadership development
  • embedding and influencing cultural change management
  • overcoming obstacles for lived experience workforces, including lack of support, being misunderstood and lack of role clarity.
